Minister Han Changfu met Ms. Isabel Garcia Tejerina, Minister of Agriculture, Food and Environment of Spain, on the sidelines of the G20 Agriculture Ministers Meeting in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, on June 2, 2016. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening the bilateral agricultural cooperation.
Minister Han noted that China and Spain enjoy steady growth in the bilateral agricultural trade and much progress in agricultural economics and trade. He hoped the two sides further intensify cooperation, particularly in the establishment of efficient and effective agricultural cooperation mechanisms, exchanges on technologies and trade information and making best of the complementarities and respective strengths in agriculture to promote the agricultural development of both countries.
Minister Han Changfu also responded actively to Spain's proposal on cooperation in efficient water-saving irrigation technologies, agricultural insurance and animal and plant inspection and quarantine, and suggested making these areas the priorities for cooperation in the next step.
Isabel Garcia Tejerina expressed her willingness to promote further progress in agricultural cooperation with China.
